November 12, 2005

Dear Friends,

How are you? We hope you are doing well.  We are finding our lives to be very fulfilled in the midst of demanding times.  The Lord truly has much adventure and excitement for those who serve Him.

These past few months, like many of you, we have been searching for the right balance as we tried to interpret national and international weather and earthquake tragedies. It certainly is an interesting time in the history of the world and of the church.

Special Events 2005

Can we take a minute to catch you up on life here at the Restoring the Foundations International Training Center?

Last January we welcomed 54 students who came from various locations: USA, Canada, Slovakia, UK, Germany, Singapore and New Zealand. What a fulfillment of the vision given to us by the Lord many years ago! A number of you came to help us with this accelerated training thrust (and we hope that more of you will come in the future). We discovered acceleration, acceleration, acceleration as the students quickly developed into effective ministers! Do you think it has to do with being in an environment where we eat, drink, sleep and breathe healing and freedom, both in our relationship with Christ as well as when we bring ministry to others?

Along another line, you should see Echo Mountain Inn. She is glowing! So many of you have generously joined with us in the vision.  Many have adopted rooms and greatly upgraded them. Thank you again. Please hug yourselves for us. There are only four rooms left in the main Inn that are still “orphans waiting to be adopted.” Isn’t that amazing?!

The Little Echo building is also coming along. We are still working on the winterizing, upgrading kitchenettes, and adding gas heat.  This building will provide long term students a great place to stay.

In July, with some fear and trembling, we reopened Echo Mountain Inn Restaurant as a weekend restaurant.  It has been closed for four years.  The restaurant is doing fairly well as guests and neighbors are finding their way here.  The food is even quite good as Chef Gene “works” his gift.

In fact, we have decided to have a Christian New Year’s Eve this year, as we will “Celebrate Jesus” as we bring in the New Year.  We will have an elegant dinner, band, dancing, prayer, prophecy and then communion at midnight. We are all excited about “doing” the New Years this way.  Call for tickets if you can come and celebrate with us.  Oh yes, we will be having a New Year’s Eve special at the Inn if you want to spend the night.  This special is not on the web site so please call 828-693-9626.

“Icing on the cake …”

Amazing.  God has blessed us with a lovely new home right across the road from the Inn.  Another long prophetic story.  However, let us just say that we recently moved in and are still in boxes. The house is lovely and cheerful with many windows, wooden floors and two fire places (double blessing)! It makes our hearts purr. The house also came with a hot tub, which we are having fun learning how to use!

Special Opportunity to Multiply Your Giving: a Matching Grant

As we count our blessings, you are one of them.  We so value the special people we have met on this journey.  We feel enriched in every way, particularly when someone says that they are praying for us and the ministry.  It is so clear that we are advancing together, not alone.  Many have also given of their time and finances, sometimes sacrificially.  Thank you so much.  We need you in every way in order to continue on.

Regarding giving, one of the good things coming out of the tragedy of the recent hurricanes is the Katrina Tax Relief Bill.  If you are not aware of the special provisions in this bill for charitable giving, let us encourage you to become aware.  All of us can multiply the effect of our giving this year, for contributions given between August 28 and December 31.  You can go to Ralph Doudera’s web site (www.wealthconundrum.com) and find a number of valuable strategies that might fit you.  (Click on the Katrina link on the left.)  In fact, if you are over 59 ½ and can select the strategy of giving from your IRA, there are no limits or penalties and your giving may be taken in full as a tax deduction.  If you are able to do this latter approach, you can be a special blessing to us because we have been offered a matching grant.  There is a couple that wants to bless you and the RTF International Training Center by giving one dollar for every dollar given from a IRA!  This has an exciting potential!  Please pray about this special offer and see if you can “work it” to the advantage of the Kingdom of God. Of course, all gifts/contributions are tax deductible.

Future Happenings at RTF International Training Center (Chronological order)

We are preparing for the new series of training modules starting January 3rd. We are excited about the large number of people wanting to receive the Restoring the Foundations training so that they can more effectively bring the Lord’s healing to others. Here is the schedule.

Training Modules, January-May, 2006

Module 1, Issue-Focused Ministry: January 3–15

Module 2, Thorough Format Ministry: January 16–February 11

Module 3, Mentoring for the HHN: February 16–May 13

We still have room for about 10 more students, so please share with those you know that may be called into this ministry. It takes all of us to get the word out. They can learn about the training at the web site for details and application form (www.RTFTrainingCenter.org)The deadline is December 19.

October has become May

May 11–14:  The annual RTF Advanced Conference, formerly held in October, has been permanently changed to May. Plan to come in 2006! We may need to find a larger meeting place than the Inn but we will have events at the Inn as well.  Open to all RTF ministers plus those interested in learning more about the RTF ministry.

Last year it really felt like a family reunion. The teaching and ministry were excellent. The in-depth sharing on the topic of Dissociation helped us all become better equipped.

Training Seminars

May 15–20Seminar Leaders: We will be training leaders for the two RTF seminars plus the Transforming your Business seminar. This training is focused for HHN ministers. Let us know soon if you plan to attend.

New Conferences at Echo Mountain Inn in 2006

Recently we have felt that we were to sponsor/host other conferences that are an extension of our vision. God has provided us with a rich smorgasbord of exciting events.

March 30–April 1: Market Place Ministry: The main themes will be:

·         Handling God’s Money God’s Way

·         Healing and Freedom from Financial Hindrances

·         Transforming Your Business--Ministry to the Organization

·         The Business Family--Keeping Your Priorities Straight

The lead speaker is Ralph Doudera (www.WealthConundrum.com). He brings an amazing testimony of God’s training and transformation as he learns to properly handle God’s money, resulting in the privilege of giving away millions of dollars to help solve global issues for Christian evangelism, world poverty, leadership training, and church building. We plus others will minister on the other themes.  Prophetic teams will also be ministering to the attendees.

May 24–27:  Preventing Shattered Marriage Seminar. Tom and Diane Hawkins of Restoration in Christ Ministries (www.rcm-usa.org) are sponsoring a couple’s retreat at the Inn for a very special group of people: those couples in which one spouse is working through dissociation issues. This should be tremendously beneficial to both spouses.  (You may call 540-249-9119 for more information, or check their web site.  Call the Inn at 828-693-9626 for reservations.)

July 14–15: Increasing Our Intimacy with God will be led by June Bain.  June travels out from Toronto Christian Airport Fellowship bringing this gift to the Body of Christ. Intimacy is a key both to direction and survival these days. Come and bring a pillow for resting and soaking in God’s presence. June is an excellent teacher and she lives her message.

October 12–14:  Women Arising with prophetess/intercessor Barbara Wentroble (www.InternationalBreakthroughMinistries.org). Barbara is an international mobilizer with a strong message for women to take their place alongside the men as we all bring our callings and giftings. This conference will encourage every woman to fully fulfill her God given destiny. Barbara has traveled throughout the world bringing this message with great impact. Danice Duda will co-lead with Barbara, bringing her passion and anointing for women arising.

Team Assembled at Echo Mountain Inn

The Lord has brought a wonderful team together here at the Inn and at the training center.  He has provided the people that are needed for core positions. Our new additions include Wendy and Mike Hughes from Canada/Tulsa, OK, who joined us in June.  Wendy is working as the ministry administrator/manager.

We are also very pleased to have found the right Inn Keepers to oversee the Inn. Greg and Stephanie Fortier are also from Canada.  They are long awaited members of the team that we need to operate and manage the Inn. We are so pleased to welcome them to this important staff position.

God’s principle of “little by little” is clearly in operation here at Echo Mountain Inn.

Healing House Network Continues to Grow

Between the Training Module III graduates and others being trained and ministering in the local church, the Healing House Network continued to expand.  We are blessed with the people of character and integrity the Lord is joining with us. Active membership is now over 110 people, including 8 teams in the UK (thank you Tom and Pam Devitt!). We are so pleased with the quality ministry taking place, as reflected in the heart warning evaluations we receive from the ministry receivers. You can read one such evaluator’s comments below.

Many Thanks

Thank you for your love and ongoing support and prayer. We realize that without the unity in the spirit all the above wouldn’t be possible. Please know that you are a vital and much appreciated part of this ministry.  We truly could not do this without you or your prayers

With much love,

Chester and Betsy Kylstra

PS: It would be a big help and cost savings if you would send us your email address (by emailing us) so that we can send you future newsletters as emails via the Internet.  Thanks!

Testimonies

We have been so blessed by many wonderful testimonies being sent to us.  We want to share a couple with you.  These people have given us permission to share because they want you to enjoy their freedom and be encouraged to receive more healing for yourself. We have changed their names but the stories are true.

Last Resort: Husband

Honestly, I came believing that this was the last straw.  If my wife did not encounter God and change then we were going to separate.  I was weary, fed up, and not going to suffer though another 25 years of a miserable marriage.

Truth from heaven broke through for me and my wife.  I begin to see hope and promise spring up anew.  My wife did change and so did I.  I know we have a long ways to go, but this was the answer to my prayers of many years.  A fresh beginning of love and forgiveness.

Last Resort: Wife

I can’t fully express the thankfulness and appreciation I feel because of my RTF journey.  I am leaps and bounds above my former state of heart and mind.  My reactions and responses to things and situations have radically changed.  My desire toward my husband is stronger and healthier than it has even been.  There are more miles to go, but I am so very hopeful my journey in Christ is deeper and wider and more intimate than ever.  I have discovered the captive parts of me and how much my Lord loves me.  His love for me sets me free and I adore Him for it.

Saved from “God’s Scrapheap”

(Interview published in New Zealand “Challenge Weekly Christian Newspaper,” Issue 28, September 5, 2005)

Murray and Heather McCall's marriage was rapidly going downhill until they found a ministry called Restoring the Foundations in the United States that helped them.  The healing and freedom they received by going through the ministry, which is based in North Carolina (www.RTFTrainingCenter.org), was so profound that they decided they wanted to bring the ministry back to New Zealand.

The couple say that although their marriage was good in the beginning, even then there were signs that something was amiss.  The problems stemmed from the sexual abuse that Mr. McCall had endured in a boarding school some 45 years ago, something he had been keeping secret from everyone, including his wife.  So devastating was his emotional turmoil that he tried to take his life a couple of times.

“I learned some bad habits of shutting down and isolating myself to cope with the sexual abuse.  I took that same shutting down into our marriage,” he said.  “That really affected our relationship because every time I felt dominated, or Heather had a different opinion, I would shut down and not talk for about a week or so until I got over it.  I felt like I was on God's scrapheap.”

The McCalls went into pastoral work for about 17 years, but two years ago Mr. McCall says he “just got burnt out” and the couple had to resign from ministry.  Then Restoring the Foundations was recommended to them and they went to the US last August/ September (2004).  They were ministered to and were able to complete the required training modules and to minister to others.

She describes the positive changes in their relationship and in their lives as a result of the ministry as “absolutely amazing. Even our kids can't believe the change. I had pain I hadn't been released from--the pain of Murray trying to take his life and things like that. I had major pain so deep that when we first went into it I was numb. Restoring the Foundations gave me a real release of all the pain of all our past.”

For her husband, going through the ministry gave him a “fresh start.”  God gave back the ground the enemy had stolen.  There was a washing of the shame and guilt and pain

“What I call my ‘safe place’ was like a black hole, and the Lord just took away that black hole.  It was just totally gone and instead of going to that black hole, which I thought was my safe place, I can now go to Jesus. I guess that with sexual abuse there’s shame, and shame keeps you from coming into the presence of God. Because you have that guilt, you have that fear and control trying to keep you bound and you lose your identity through shame.  In our relationship we can now communicate and talk to each other.”

Although the McCalls will initially be providing the ministry by themselves, they hope to eventually train others to assist them in ministering Restoring the Foundations to others.
